BE CAREFUL WHAT U WISH FOR

Everybody
has been
COMPLAINING
about the HIGH tempertures.
They WISHED things would cool off.
Yesterday a powerful storm
blew through and did just that.
Cooled things down for us
to about 75 degrees.
BUT
it cut a swath of
DESTRUCTION
 six counties wide.

These photos were all taken off the
TELEVISION.
They do not do the storm justice.
It was scary.
75-85mph WINDS.
Almost 75,000 people
without power.
It will be
5-7 days
before they get it back.
The
RED CROSS
has set up shelters.

I was visiting this place
back on my birthday in May

I STOPPED at a traffic light
so I could take a picture.

This is what it looked like then.

PLEASE PRAY FOR ALL THOSE
TOUCHED BY THIS
HORRIBLE STORM.

...JUST SO YOU KNOW...
My husband and I are safe.
Our kitty cats were terrified, though.
Crying the whole time, the house shook.
We had branches down,
power out for a while,
dead birds, broken light, shattered glass.
Blown over garbage cans and chairs.
My daughter is still without electricity and water.

PS) From my first posting of this...
I revised the numbers of those without power
and the intensity of the wind gusts,
based on new information released here.

HAVE A GANDER AT THIS STEER

MEET BIG BEN.
DID you KNOW?
HE is a STEER
hidden away in a park in Indiana...
NOT a CLOCK chiming in ENGLAND.

SERIOUSLY...
LOOK at this fella's STATS.
AMAZING.

SEEING THINGS IN A NEW LIGHT

"SOMETIMES in your EVERYDAY travels
You JUST have to STOP
and FRAME the VIEW."

Been spending so much time
in doctors offices and hospitals
having  tests...
THAT
I have LEARNED to appreciate
the beauty OUTSIDE those doors.

TAKING A BREATHER

"It's RAINING. It's POURING.
The old man is SNORING."

So I have my nose in a GOOD book.
See you, when I see you.

LOST SIGHT OF THE SHORE

My soul is full of longing
For the secret of the sea,
And the heart of the great ocean
Sends a thrilling pulse through me.
- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I spent my summers...
from the time I was knee high to a grasshopper,
until I was sixteen...
visiting the ocean for vacation.
The novelty of that has NEVER worn off.
Yet, I have seldom if ever visited it, as an adult.
Still there is a yearning, burning
deep within my soul.
But...
we live more than 600 miles away
from the sand and surf.
So...
my heart finds solace
at local lakes, instead.
But it is not the same thing.
I long for seashells at my feet,
not just those sitting on my tables.

Sit in reverie and watch the
changing color of the waves
that break upon the
idle seashore of the mind.

- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
