Spring has
finally sprung. It's going to be in the upper 60's for the next four days. And
it is a welcome change from all that colder weather we had. But the residual
effects of the harsh winter are still everywhere around us. I'm talking about
potholes. You have to be so careful driving, for fear your car will hit a one, and get damaged. Up in Michigan
gigantic sinkholes are appearing and swallowing cars. The roads are in terrible
shape from the thawing and freezing cycles. Not to mention all the salt used to
melt the snow. And water main breaks haven't helped. Do you have problems with
potholes where you live???

Potholes have appeared every where here this year. I have noticed some road crews out making repairs but a lot is still needed. Every year they seem to get bigger. Avoiding them is sometimes impossible too.
We had good roads and streets until recently. The big oil field trucks are causing havoc with our roads and streets,
We have our share in Florida and North Carolina, BUT nothing like the Michigan, WI, MI and the Chicago area which in our travels seem to be the worse.
We were in Detroit once at the thaw and learned exactly what you have in your blog, the thaw opened up a multitude of sins.
Glad for the warmer temps! I know that is a relief! I would imagine it is going to be a long season for the road workers to fix all the damage from last year's winter! We do have pot holes and the city doesn't fix a lot of them on side streets but more the major routes.
Stay safe out there!

Now that we can really see the streets I see that the roads are a mess. I hope that there's lots of road work ahead. Isn't the weather great these days!
oh yeah! potholes are everywhere! i thought i was going to be swallowed by them in the alley behind the shelter this morning.
Yes it's horrible our local news has a pothole map mapping out the worst areas to avoid!
It's no secret that I hate Texas, but the roads and highways here are very good. I never see any potholes (undoubtedly because they do CONSTANT road construction.....it never ends).
By the way, it was 92 here today!
We have more problems with cracks in the road, and the highway department loves to hold up traffic while they spend hours and hours filling said cracks with that nasty tar.
Oh yes, we have so many potholes here. Some of them are terribly bad. They road crews have tried to keep up with them, but it was impossible. Now that it is actually warming up, I don't think many new ones will be cropping up.
We're cursed with potholes too...so many that the street crews can't fix them all before the first snows of winter come again. It's an ongoing problem.
Oh, yeah! We've got potholes in the potholes :) Supposedly they are working 24/7 to fix them, but I haven't seen any trucks on the street at all. Enjoy your warm weather while it lasts!
Oh no, Taryterre, potholes! I have seen these before, but I never heard of them causing car damage. Be careful. So glad that the ice is melting and spring is finally coming your way.
Have a good weekend, and watch out while you're driving!
love,

Glad to hear you're finally realizing some warmer temps!
I'm not aware of any potholes or sink holes here in Arizona... tho' I fear one of these summers our asphalt will turn to syrup from the awful heat.
Your observation sure makes me pause and give thanks for the hard-working highwaymen and road engineers!
We do have potholes, but NOTHING like that!! That's a scary thought!! Please be careful!! I'm glad Spring has finally Sprung for you!! It's been really nice here for a few weeks!! Now, it's just the pollen!! We are supposed to have rain tomorrow. So, that will help a little!
"Taryterre" has been included in Tuesday's Sites To See for this week. Be assured that I hope this helps to point many new visitors in your direction.

Many of our streets are bad in our small town. It's not the weather, but lack of funds to take care of them. Those huge potholes could be hazardous!
