By and
large, I tend to be somewhat conventional in my home décor with a boring color
palette. But every now and then... something comes along, that tickles your fancy, and throws all caution to the wind. I saw these cute FISH potholders and
thought they match nothing I own. But then... thought, I’ve got to have them. A
LENTEN special. They were on sale. Just what I needed, an excuse to BUY them. I
never have had FISH potholders before, have you? Time to change things up a bit. Do something different. The real choosing however,
began when I had to decide which color dishcloths I would get to accompany them
in my kitchen. Which color would you choose? I favored the yellow but
ultimately went with the turquoise. Though none of them match my décor. I say
sometimes you have to shake things up and have some fun. So I did.

I've never had fish potholders. Yours are very pretty. Mine are so old and faded and square. You have lots of choices to match them, not sure what I would choose but I do like colorful things.
Our own home's décor is mostly mundane shades of 'canyon.'
To 'pop' some primary colors would be a Big Deal, indeed ... but I'm smiling at your cheery little fish.
Reminds me of Lenten lutefisk! :)
How cute with the fish pot holders! Certainly colorful indeed! I would have gone with the yellow towels. We have a hodgepodge of colors in the kitchen; it works and I'm okay with it :)

It's always a great (and fun) idea to break away from the confines of our own restrictions. Much like you, I tend to be conservative with decor colors. I definitely like the fish potholders - and have never seen any before.
My first choice for dishtowels was yellow - but on further consideration I think the turquoise is just fine.
I would have chosen yellow, I think. My kitchen is a riot of colors that all go together somehow. I am more liberal and a free spirit in the kitchen. Long ago, I found a wooden, carved fish at a junk store on the side of the road. It was not like anything I had ever had. It turns out my $35 fish was worth hundreds since it is a very old carnival ornament. It surprises everyone who comes into my home. So, I put a wooden penguin in the kitchen.
Color is definitely a way to add some fun to your life. I love the potholders. This is the in-between time of year when we crave color I think, I know I do. Looking forward to colorful easter eggs, bonnets and dresses !
TT, it is just in you girls DNA to do wild stuff (even on a small basis) at times. Just to change or shake up the status quo! But I do like that fish@! ;-)
I think you made a good choice when you went with the turquoise. Your fish potholders are cute, Taryterre. I know what you mean cause Jess just bought a neutral color rug for her kitchen, and she wanted to get some additional stuff with a pop of color. And since it's Spring, I'm glad you had fun and went for a little color. I like the orange and yellow in them too. : )

Good for you, Taryterre. The fish potholders are quite colorful and darling. A nice touch for your kitchen, no doubt. You are a faithful visitor to my blog and for that, I truly thank you. I always, always love to see that you have visited. Hope you have a beautiful week! Susan
BALTIMORE is your home town??? Nel absolutely loved the place! So many interesting things to see and charming old buildings, and she said that the sea food was sooooo good. : ) ~Sheri
Yep Baltimore is where I was born and grew up.
Your fish are very cute. I've never had fish pot holders, but I do have a butterfly one my sister gave me for Christmas a few years ago. Good choice on the colors. I would have picked yellow or turquoise too. I like happy colors in a kitchen.
I like them!
