Halloween
has always been a fun time at my house, as far back as I can remember.
Even
before it became trendy with the public at large… I was wearing costumes and
decorating with orange lights, pumpkins, ghosts, goblins, black cats and
skeletons… inside and out. Back then, I was the only one that did, on our
street… and the children and adults loved it.
Nowadays, it seems like everybody is all in.
Halloween is a Tour de Force. Sadly, this
year though… as with most other things, the holiday has been all but canceled.
That is too bad. Costume parties were always part of the tradition. With kids bobbing for apples and eating goodies in the shape of their favorite monsters… their parents sipped exotic drinks… and scary music played. While, dry ice created a
spooky atmosphere for the festivities.
These things will be sorely missed. Trick
or treating is a rite of passage. You go from begging for candy to handing it
out when you reach a certain age. Social distancing kind of puts a damper on
all that, doesn’t it? No doorbells to
ring, only drive-by candy giveaways this year.
Though just in case,
i have a
stash of candy ready to go…
if i don't eat it first.
LOL
And because it is Halloween,
I’m
still wearing a costume of sorts.
It’s all about the mask, isn’t it?

Aw, this makes me want to visit the 50's -- if only for a day. Bobbing for apples was the best!
halloween is not happening here this year. i am so sad. but i am trying to make it happen in my tiny and getting tinier bubble anyway.
Our own little Halloween is happening for the two of us in the house and a bit in the yard. Your pictures are great!
Good for you keeping the Halloween spirit alive and well. I think the fun is in the giving. I love to see the children in their costumes. They are adorable. It's always been a fun time for us too. Hopefully I'll still get see some of my grandchildren in theirs. Hope you enjoy your Halloween to the fullest !
I love this Halloween post! It helped cheer me up during some difficult times.
Have a spectacular Halloween!!
You really were all into this celebration and that's great. We have neighbors here who feel the same, but this year they opted not to wear costumes when handing out treats. You are right about so many cancelled events and our grandchildren opted not to go trick or treating but to have a house party at their uncle's home instead.
