MOONFACE, SNOW & WEIGHT

Since the Pandemic hit, I thought I might have packed on a few pounds. But the truth is I haven’t. This comes as a big surprise to me because the refrigerator has become a very good friend. I’m always rummaging around in there, for something to quell my seemingly endless desire to eat, in lieu of doing something productive. Salty, sweet, savory. It doesn’t matter.  Seems I can never find the right thing to satisfy my hunger. So I just keep stuffing my face. But no weight gain. Imagine that? Crazy right?  However, I must note that  the steroids I take for my health issues have given me a huge MOON FACE. That is more than a little frustrating. Seeing it get bigger and bigger is why I thought I was tipping the scales. Made me want to cry.  Unfortunately, it’s a side effect of the medication I take. So... I shouldn’t complain if it’s otherwise doing it’s job. But I can’t help wishing my old, wrinkled face, without so much bulk along the sides, returned. Maybe one day it will. Fingers crossed.  Have you ever experienced MOON FACE?

Meanwhile,  more snow is in the forecast here. A total of 14 inches during a 3 day period. YIKES.  Winter is getting old. But since I have nowhere to go.  Let it snow.  Let it snow.

I had a moon face from allergies and I could not see my ears!

Thank goodness we don't have to get out in the snow. I'm going to shovel the driveway just in case. It's supposed to get quite snowy, but I think if I take a little at a time, it will get done. Congrats on no weight gain, I've done the same and am still holding right around the same, but no moonfaced here. Take care and stay happy and healthy. No one can see us anyway.

I hate taking steroids. I'm glad I don't have to take them often. They make me grouchy... maybe I should say "grouchier than usual". And, they used to make me gain weight. These days it isn't easy for me to gain weight. For some reason I can eat anything I want and I don't seem to gain weight. The exception to this rule is between Cristmas and New Year, when I almost force-feed myself cookies, etc. I'm almost rid of the five pounds I picked up then. When I lose another 3/10 of a pound, I will be at my 152 pounds again. Funny thing is, I don't even have to diet. I just don't eat between meals for awhile. That is NOT how it was for most of my life, so I'm thankful.

I had to smile when you ended turning the Blog entry into a song. Now imma sing it all day but what we have is cold rain.
Never thought of a moon face, actually never heard of it (but then I live under a rock.). I hope the meds do their job and return you to your normal sweet self.
Love from down here in the WET stuff.
The best to you, but it is encouraging to know that the "REFRIGERATOR" has also become someone else's friend (LOL). Good line.

Ugh, I'm so sorry to hear. I, too, developed a moon face and itty-bitty squinty face -- but that was from sun poisoning. The only side effect from my one-and-done steroid shot was reddening of the skin.
CONGRATS on maintaining your weight! I've been losing and finding the same 3-4 pounds since Christmas. Why is it, I wonder, (that) I'm always hungry in cold weather?

Should have typed "squinty eyes" ... not "face." Oops!

No, I've never heard of moon face before. Sorry you are experiencing that with the medication you're taking. Wow, that's a lot of snow! I wanted to answer your question.....Yes, we had a big snowfall recently, but the snow is starting to melt. They say it was about a foot of snow, but it looked like two feet, it was pretty deep. I hear we are going to get another snowfall soon. My neighbor told me it could snow off and on here until March or April. Yes, let it snow! I chuckled when you said the refrigerator has become a very good friend haha. You are a clever writer, Taryterre. Keep it up.

Oh, I just read that last quote, I love that! I didn't see it at first. That's a good one. : )

Moon face was a new side effect to me. Congrats on not gaining weight as we have been up and down and mostly staying the same. We cook at home nearly all the time with no take-outs or pre-packaged or frozen meals and perhaps that is the problem -- too much good food at home. You are definitely getting more snow than we are here in Nashua, NH. Today it is flurrying on and off for most of the day with not much accumulation but at least it uts a fresh white coating on the old and dirty snow.

I've only had small doses of steroids, but after my hip replacement I weighed myself and I gained FIFTEEN pounds of water with the swelling I had. As the swelling went away my weight came back to normal. But I almost fainted when I saw a 15 pound gain. I'm up five pounds over the pandemic. I did pretty well until the last two months. I'm in the house more and eating more. I'm working on reining in my snacking. I want to be able to wear the same clothes I wore last spring.
