has been
about the HIGH tempertures.
They WISHED things would cool off.
Yesterday a powerful storm
blew through and did just that.
Cooled things down for us
to about 75 degrees.
it cut a swath of
 six counties wide.

These photos were all taken off the
They do not do the storm justice.
It was scary.
75-85mph WINDS.
Almost 75,000 people
without power.
It will be
5-7 days
before they get it back.
has set up shelters.

I was visiting this place
back on my birthday in May

I STOPPED at a traffic light
so I could take a picture.

This is what it looked like then.

My husband and I are safe.
Our kitty cats were terrified, though.
Crying the whole time, the house shook.
We had branches down,
power out for a while,
dead birds, broken light, shattered glass.
Blown over garbage cans and chairs.
My daughter is still without electricity and water.

PS) From my first posting of this...
I revised the numbers of those without power
and the intensity of the wind gusts,
based on new information released here.

Oh my gosh!! It looks terrible, to be in it must have been so terribly scary! I have heard of lots of damage to other areas and loss of electricity too. Glad you and hubby endured through the storm and that all are safe. I hope daughter's power comes on soon!

It's impossible to fully understand the fury of those storms unless you actually experienced it. Glad to know that you and your family are safe.

Glad you are safe! It was scary, that's for sure. Our area was hit hard, as you read on my last post, but our home was not touched and we do still have power. My heart goes out to all those without power... especially the elderly... with this heat!

Scary the power of the storms, the pictures were heart breaking, such beautiful places destroyed.

I'm thankful that you are safe. We were touched only by a tip of that storm and the power here only blinked out momentarily but we heard about how bad it was and still is with so many with out power. We needed the rain, but not like that for sure. All those affected will be in my prayers. In just a little over 1 hours time I saw the temps plummet too. From high 90's to low 70's.

We only had a tiny bit of that storm with lightning and loud thunder. My cousins in West Va. are without power 36 hours now and my cousin in Maryland is too. Glad you are okay and I hope your daughter gets her power back soon.

Glad you're OK. We had a storm on Friday night and were without electricity for 6 hours and without internet and cable for 24 hours. Seems silly to complain about cable though when other people got it so much worse.

Wow, glad you weren't hurt of course, but we do feel for the ones with out power and especially those who lost homes.
Wishing you a better today, and prayers for those in distress.

I saw that on the news yesterday and thought about you. We really need the rain but sadly, this time of year comes with tornadoes and winds with the rain.
I am so glad you are ok (my dog Molly freaks out during storms)
I hope they are able to rebuild that beautiful building.

Can't believe it. What is going on with the weather every year now it seems. My daughter lives in DC and still no power. Hmmm.....wonder if the White House is without the same. DOUBT IT! :) Hope you and yours are fine otherwise. Poor kitties. I don't blame them.

I remember walking around Louisville after the remnants of Hurricane Ike passed thru in Sept 2008 - it was a long time before a lot of the area got electric back. I was driving back from Cinti and thinking "Holt S***!!!" It is very scary. glad you are OK.

That had to be very scary. So glad you are ok.

So glad you guys are okay. What a terrible storm. We had a t-storm come through last night that did a bit of wind damage to some areas, but we didn't get any. We did get some rain, but we could really use some more. I can do without the storms though.
