"Should auld acquaintance be forgot, And never brought to mind? Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne!
For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne.
We'll take a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne."
May you and your loved ones
have a healthy and happy
NEW YEAR 2014.

Wondering if it was too late to be good? We anxiously awaited the big day like a couple of gleeful children.  We had a nice quiet, peaceful Christmas Day celebration, just the two of us. Santa was generous with his gift giving. Since I have no sense of direction Santa brought me a GPS device for my car and the cradle it goes in. Personally I think it will confuse me more, but Santa knows what is best. So I'm going to work with it and try not to become too flustered. Time will tell if it helps me find my way. My fingers are crossed. I also got a remote car starter for my car, which will help keep me warm in the cold, cold weather. A good thing, for sure. Now it's the day after the big holiday. Things should start heading back to normal. I was surprised when I went out to the stores, tonight... to find all the shelves had been picked cleaned. The mad dash for Christmas bargains is over. Now begins the new year. And the rush to celebrate Valentine's Day.

I wanted to add some more Christmas cheer to my family room. That is where the resident BEAR  resides. I thought dressing him up a bit might be fun. So I went in search of the perfect piece of clothing to make a holiday statement. I decided on some kind of head attire. Headbands, hats and earmuffs were the options. I took great delight in doing this and even got my husband in the holiday spirit. Though I must admit... he disagreed with my ultimate choice... being the traditionalist he is.  What do you think suits BAREE the bear, best?
I saved the SANTA HAT for me.
My hubby wanted the Santa Hat for the Bear.
 I went with the
Reindeer Antlers for Baree., instead.

My hubby and I had the opportunity to go see The Great American Christmas Show featuring Tony Orlando and his band. It combined a hit list of his oldies but goodies, along with Christmas songs. He stressed during the show that what was missing in most people's Christmas Decorations  was a Nativity. He has lived in Branson, Missouri for over 20 years entertaining audiences there. Popular back in the 1970's , Tony is best known for his song Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree.

Mother Nature decided to let loose on us here in the Midwest. It started snowing this afternoon and hasn't let up. When my children were younger this meant a day off from school, sipping hot chocolate and building snowmen outdoors. But nowadays, for me... it means I stay inside with a cup of Chai Tea and watch the snowflakes fall. So today while I was doing that... I also sorted through some of my old photos. I LOVE snowmen and it's evidenced by all the pics I've taken of them, when I've been out and about. So I thought I'd share some with you. Do you like snowmen?

I love to fill my house with the scents of the season. Cooking and baking is one thing that brightens the mood and fills the nostrils with holiday cheer. But my hubby has COPD, so I can't spray anything festive in the air. Steaming potpourri is another no-no. I'd light candles, but the flame isn't good, nor the soot they produce... for his condition. So I had about given up on this simple pleasure. Then... I bought myself a candle warmer. It heats the wax so that the fragrance is gently released. My hubby seemed to have no problem with it. So... now I can enjoy all the delightful scents of the candles and his COPD is not aggravated. Therefore... I was so excited when I saw the latest Yankee Candle Display for the Christmas season. My favorite is the Holiday Cinnamon and coming in a close second... is the Balsam and Spruce. I bought a couple to bring home. Buy one, get one free SALE.  Do you light candles, year round... or just at the holidays?
