congrats on a job well done! That was an epic tale of adventure and perseverance. Being older brings out things we never knew about ourselves. I say I can do most things I used to but slower. But I did give up mowing the yard. I found someone to do it for me and no longer have to worry about the grass. He's efficient and only charges 20 dollars. I had the yard mowed for the first time last week and he will come every 2 weeks until fall. The trick is finding someone to help. It's not always easy to do that. Glad your Mother's Day turned out for the best!

Bravo for you two!
We don't like to admit we need help and when we do and cannot find that help so frustrating.

But so happy you guys got it done. Yes, look into help for senior in your area.

Rest up and be proud!!

Oh my! I was holding my breath for you! That is quite a tale. Tommy no longer mows his yard. But, a neighbor did it, then his yard company, then another neighbor, then another neighbor paid for it to be done. Well, two of the neighbors moved and one died. It is an ordeal sometimes just doing things. And, Tommy is only 69 with severe mobility issues, using a walker or canes.

Rest lots. Sorry all this happened on Mother's Day.

Ah ha, VERY WELL WRITTEN! You had us with you there the whole time, that made a great story with the perfect ending, that is the job DONE. Hope the soreness doesn't last too long and the LAWN does look good.
I know there is lot more to the story you had to skip, but you definitely described your day. GREAT JOB, NOW REST.
Pride in a job well done makes a good Mother's day, doesn't it?
Love from Florida from one who KNOWS about getting stuck. LOL

Oh my, what a time you two had. So glad that the grass is cut though and now you can have some time to rest. You two are so brave. Me? I would have let it grow taller than a stack of corn!

What an ordeal! Nevertheless, you guys accomplished something others would have walked away from. Your hubby looks quite dashing atop that mower! Hope and pray you discover a community resource who can assist!

Glad all is well that ended well. Sometimes things just need to get done though right? I know kids aren't into working much but it would be nice if there was a neighborhood kid you could pay. I will say, that grass is beautiful. So green and lush. Around here everything is dry and crispy. We've had no rain at all in weeks.

Call any organization tied to veterans. They usually have someone looking for mowing or know of some one. OR call a local church to see if they have someone in the congregation looking.

This was quite the experience for you and your husband. Of course, I just had to keep reading to find out what would happen next. I kid you not, I had a few anxious moments myself and wasn't even a participant. Glad that everything worked out and I know you were both proud of your accomplishment. Good that the van was also towed out in such a short time. Hiring a contractor might well be the best alternative in the future. I also wondered if there would be anyone in the neighborhood, perhaps a young(er) person who could use your mowing equipment and perhaps the cost would be less?
