SOUNDS OF SILENCE

When my husband is home, he likes following the stock market on CNBC. So,he DVR's shows that appear during the day pertaining to it. Then... he watches them in the evening. My desk and computer are in the room where he sees these shows on tv... so when he's doing it, I'm stuck listening to them too. This aggravates me. After complaining about this numerous times, my hubby came up with an idea to help silence the financial markets for me. He bought me a pair of noise canceling headphones. That way... I can enjoy the things I want to, when he's watching what he wants. I can't hear him and he can't hear me. It's a win-win situation for us both. And I get to look like a disc jockey. Kinda of cool. Do you have any secrets for sharing a space?

Here at my house, all is quiet most of the time...no one to share a space with but I do remember days I wished for a little peace and quiet. Now I've got way too much of it.

No problem here; he watches in livingroom and I watch either in the kitchen or bedroom.

Hi Tary, I need muffs to cancel out my husband's guitar playing and singing...haa. He thinks he is a cowboy and has been serenading me for nearly all of my life...lol.

I am fortunate in that respect. Sherry listens to a lot of stuff so I understand the feeling, of course it is simple for me, I am completely deaf with the aids off, so click.

She loves to read in the bed, I slip on the dark mask, when I am thru which is always first. then I can go off to sleep,

But we musty figure a way to share space without arguing.. Good entry.

Even though John watches the stock market channel in the living room I can hear it since he plays it loud. Guess I've gotten used to it and kind of tune it out. When he is gone I never turn the TV or radio on, just soak in the quiet.

That was a thoughtful gift! It's hard to share a space when there is a noisy tv on constantly. I'm always happy when BG decides to go to his man cave!

That's one of the many compromises that make up a good marriage.

Those noise blocking earphones are a wonderful thing. My profoundly autistic grandson has a set that his parents let him wear when he's out in crowds or in places where there's too much noise for him to process. They work wonders.

Good idea with the headphones. Since I work in the den area, hubby knows he can't have the TV on during my work days, too distracting. He can go and watch TV in the bedroom if he chooses to. When he watches TV in the evening, I usually don't tune it to too much of it as I'm reading blogs or doing other things on line :)

Oh my gosh, I really need a set of these, Taryterre. Me and husband don't have the same taste in the shows we watch. And those football games - the volume gets so loud sometimes that it's annoying. I finally set the volume to where it doesn't get too loud. Your head phones sound like something that I need to get.

Love,

That was nice of hubby to do those things for you. Now you can watch whatever you want. Joe doesn't watch much tv so I pretty well keep up with what I want to. Take care of those knees Tarry.

I have those for when I am using outside machines. Do they ever make your ears sweat? If so, I saw somewhere on the internet that someone had covered hers with socks. Pretty clever.
