2020 brought us this deadly pandemic.
2021
held the HOPE that the
newly developed
vaccines could help
eradicate it.
I truly believed in the promise
of that tomorrow... that
our worries would soon be behind us
and things could get back to normal
before the end of this year.
But, barely a week into the new year
all HELL broke loose...
I was born on Memorial Day
wearing red, white and blue.
I wear my heart on my sleeve
regarding love of country.
My father kissed the ground when
he came home to America
from WAR
I grew up in that DC area.
I am deeply saddened by what
happened in our beloved Capitol
on January 6th.
The tears I shed , continue to fall.
The images of that violence
and desecration is
forever etched in my memory...
ALL of our memories.
Lies & disinformation have warped
the minds of so many.
TRUTH MATTERS
and it's time we embraced it,
whether we like it or not...
instead of letting
crazy conspiracy theories
rule the day.
They are designed to spread
hate and violence, throughout the land.
I am heartbroken for our Democracy
I want to see all who perpetrated this
INSURRECTION & SEDITION
prosecuted to the fullest extent of the
law.
They ALL must be held accountable.
Every single one.
Only then, can we heal
these wounds that divide us.

i heard someone say yesterday that men and women have sacrificed their lives for this country for hundreds of years, our politicians should be willing to sacrifice their jobs to save it. the republicans that sold out their morals to support this maniac are no better than he is and need to go
Don't give up, we can overcome. Our country is made up of survivors. We will all be hoping for better days to come.
Hoping and praying! But honestly, I don't think unity's probable for a long time, if ever.
I hope for peaceful days ahead too.
Our nation needs prayers desperately. The leaders need to get to their knees and pray for forgiveness.
I so agree with you and identify on all levels to your post. My birthday is July 4th and from early childhood I have felt a special love for America. Made sure my child knew its history and proud heritage. Of course our family made the obligatory trip to Washington to walk those halls. To me our Democracy, the right to vote, the Capitol, are almost holy. I also revere TRUTH--without it what have we got? Feels like a death in the family, angry and sad crying at the same time. For the first time, I don't feel Democracy is guaranteed.
Well said. Thank you.
Amen. WE lived in DC for a few years. I too was shocked to see our Capitol bldg attacked like they were crashing some dance or party. I am already glad that some arrests have happened, those should have happened t the "EVENT". Anyway I hope and pray for unity when we were 'neighbors not enemies' when we differ on opinions. I did become physically sick on my stomach watching that STUPIDITY and ILLEGAL action playing out. SHOCKED is the only word that fits...
Love from Florida
PS: This is a great country and WE WILL SURVIVE!
I totally agree with you in that ALL those who were responsible for destroying, defiling, damaging anything in the U.S. Capitol should be prosecuted to the fullest extent possible. They have caused damage to a building that belongs to all Americans. What amazed me in reading and looking at photos of these insurgents is that they seemed oblivious to the fact that they were being seen with no attempt to hide/disguise their faces. It seems that blatant stupidity also ran rampant in their ranks. I am hopeful that despite its shaky start that 2021 can somehow see better days, but how long that will take is anyone's guess right now.
Never give up!!!
I don't know if you have had kids, or pets... if so, did you give up on them when they were brand new? Couldn't walk, talk, or be potty trained when you'd had them just over a week?
Give 2021 a fair & fighting chance!
We will hear more from Trump and his followers, I'm afraid. I hope I'm wrong.
