Boys will be
boys. My grandson is no exception. He likes to play with bugs. He keeps them as
pets. He finds them, then builds habitats for them. I hope he grows up and
becomes an entomologist. Right now he wants to be a solider or a cop. But his
love of bugs is something that can’t be denied. Do you have a love of something you turned into a career or know someone who did?

Hi, I love boys. When I am around a curious one, I remember my childhood. Funny how our mind can travel back over the years in an instant. I had a dream of the military, I did it.
I admire anyone who knows exactly what they want and reach for it.
I like the bug lover! ;-)
I think one of my grandsons will be a zoologist. He has had a keen interest in it since he was 2 years old and is still fascinated (he's 8 now).
I could do without the bugs though. lol xo Diana
Unfortunately, no.
... Instead, secretly jealous of those who live their passion. I was always just bent on making a satisfactory living, without having to sacrifice my first priority -- my family.
This was a cute read!
I think your grandson's bug habitat is interesting. I'm happy one of my grandsons has started doing something with his talent of drawing. The other got married and they have a baby then wife wanted to buy a house so looks like his life is going to be making a living since she has made it clear she wants three kids.
I don't think my hubby ever dreamed of being a lineman when he was young, but once he became one, over 40 years ago, it became his passion. He always loved being called to work during storms of any kind. He loves it so much that it will be a sad day when he retires and why he keeps going to work when he could already have retired.
Strangely enough, I had a fascination with bugs when I was a kid, too. That's odd because now I HATE them.
Well, I also had a fascination with reading and music - and that's a passion that never left me.
You just never know what the little ones will turn out to be, but it's always good to give them encouragement. Who knows? Meanwhile it does look like a lot of fun!
Yes, boys will be boys. And you are showing patience with your grandson while he plays and explores, Taryterre. Nel has loved books ever since she was a child, and now she uses those books to teach her college students. : )

Please teach your grandson to admire bugs in their natural habitat but do not touch them or bring them in the house.... they do not belong there and do well in the habitat that is natural for them. Respect for all life and leaving nature as you found it are two life principles that children do well to learn early. Hope all is well with you, my dear. Are you happy to see spring this year. Lovingly~ Andrea xxx
That is wonderful you encourage your grand to love his bugs, Taryterre. He may, very well, turn that into a career one day. Well, I always loved to write, majored in journalism, and worked on newspaper for years. Getting old now and still writing. Praise the Lord. Thanks for your visits. Love them. Susan
My sister used to do this. She used to also find cocoons and habitat them until they would actually turn into moths. She still loves butterflies but gets creeped out one any other bug. I used to try and keep frogs and turtles for pets. haha

I liked to write. I didn't become a novelist or journalist, but did spend many years in "corporate communications." Not glamorous, but employable.
