The temperatures here have dropped dramatically.
They went from 90's with 80 percent humidity...
down to 60's in the day and 40's at night.
No reason to use the 'swamp cooler' we bought
to help us cope with the broken air conditioner
and HIGH temps.
It did it's job for one day before
autumn came and brought that seasonal coolness...
we had longed for.
The windows have been open...
24/7
sucking in all that autumn goodness.
But...
it got so cold inside today that I had
goosebumps and needed a sweater.
And I must admit, this change in seasons
has given us both the sniffles.
That came as a
big surprise.
So we are medicating with our
Elderberry and Vitamin C tablets...
and we reluctantly shut the windows and
turned on a space heater to warm up a bit.
According to the weatherman
it's going back up into the 80's
next week.
So for now...
we will enjoy the NEW season.
And breathe in that
cool fresh air, when we can.
Hope you all are savoring the moment too.
This is my FAVORITE time of year.

It's cool here too, with low morning temps in the 40's and highs in the 70's. We are still not getting enough rain. It's supposed to warm up for the weekend and then chill again. That's fine with me!
I do believe, this is the most wonderful time of the year! We've awoken to temps in the 50's both yesterday and today ... made me want to do a happy dance.
But ya, I woke a little while ago with the sniffles and sore throat. Gonna get right on that before it gets out of hand, particularly going up to the hospital.
Have a super day!
WE here are a mixture, She likes it Hot I like it cool. Actually I have been accused of being a lizard and not caring if it is cool or hot.
BUT we did enjoy the visit to your house and the windows open sure sounded good, sorry you had to shut them so soon.
Sending 'just WARM thoughts your way.
Sherry & jack, actually cool here in the 50s.
The weather here in TN is similar to yours. It was humid, in the high 80s. Then, on the first day of autumn, the temp dropped to 58 degrees and 45 at night. I like cool weather but the very sudden change is hard to get used to.
We’re down here in Florida now and it’s been pleasant here the last couple of days and the almost constant rain is supposed to stay away a little while. Glad you got some cooler weather.
Take care, Sheila
Here in middle Alabama, the temperature is going to be in high 70s and low 80s for the next few days with no rain for the next 7 or 8 days. I love that but hate to see hot weather go. By the way, a swamp cooler adds humidity to your already humid house.
Autumn is my favorite time of year as well and I sure wish it would stick around nashua, NH. Instead, we've been having daytime temps in the 80s - enough already. I want to wear long sleeve tops and fleece jackets and jeans. Also, the foliage is not turning beautiful colors yet as the nighttime temps have not been cold enough. OK, rant over, bring on the cooler and colorful fall weather.
Oh, I thought I commented on this post, but I think something distracted me in the house, so I'm back. I'm glad it's getting cooler there, and it's getting
cold up here in the mountains too and have already started wearing flannels and sweaters. I hope you have a pleasant Autumn, Taryterre, with many good surprises coming your way. Stay well drinking lots of tea and rest, and I
remember this is your favorite time of year. Me too! : )
