I have little if
anything exciting to talk about nowadays. Just the mundane. I’m drowning in a
sea of mediocrity. Same old, same old here, 24/7. Most of our days are spent
picking up prescriptions, going to doctor appointments or getting tests run.
BORING. Sometimes, when I’m out… I wander into a Thrift Store or two… to see if any bargains jump off the shelves???
With the global shipping problems, there is slim picking in the box stores for
seasonal items. And what is there is EXPENSIVE. In the grocery store many shelves are barren. After years of
using ALL detergent for my laundry, and being unable to find it… I switched to
these newfangled TIDE pods. They smell wonderful and the clothes are none the
worse for wear. So... change is good. The high temps of the past week, had our fans and swamp cooler
blowing non-stop. Had me wanting to celebrate Autumn on the beach. But that’s
not possible, so we suffered through the heat. I put a calming CD on… with an
endless loop of ocean sounds, including sea gulls. It brought the sand and surf
into the living room. I chilled my Harney pumpkin tea… drinking it COLD, rather than drinking it hot…. like I usually do this time of year. It tasted scrumptious. Cleaning out the closet,
I found a couple old Gift Cards. What a surprise??? The first was for a date
night at Applebee’s… from eight or more
years ago, from my parents… for our anniversary. Applebee’s says it’s still
good. Imagine that? So... we’ll have to order lunch one day. Also came across an
old gift card, for Netflix. So we opened an account. The movies and TV shows
there, suddenly showed us a whole new world of entertainment, we’d been
missing. Who knew all the intriguing things out there, to watch. We’ve been
enlightened. And thrilled to participate. And will continue to do so. Meanwhile, most of the Christmas
gifts have been wrapped and packed, ready to ship to the family. I shopped for
them, this past May and because of the Post Office chicanery with Mr. DeJoy… I’m
shipping them out November 1st. And hoping that gives them enough
time to be on the doorsteps of loved ones for Christmas. Or there will be NO
joy. Otherwise… I just did a load of laundry. It’s 2am. I’ll
fold them in the morning. And then read my book Anxious People.
Folks... I am so sick and tired of my daily routines… I did something different. I already have dinner planned for the evening.
Biryani
Shrimp.
So there you have it. My BORING life.
Just taking it one day at a time.
How about you???

If you were here seeing me go about my day, you'd see how every day is the same. We go very few places, mainly because we like staying home. I do the same old things every day. However, I enjoy my life, and I always find something to blog about, even if I have to go back in my mind to childhood and talk about my grandmother. Even when your body isn't free to do what you'd like, your mind is as free as you let it be. In your mind, you can go anywhere! I often remember to ask God to bless all the people who are in pain every day and keep their spirit strong.
Oh, how I can identify with your calendar filled with doctors' appointment and such. On one hand, I'm thankful for modern medicine ... but still long to get a life. Ya know?
Congratulations on finding those gift cards. Enjoy your lunch! Meanwhile, I'm going to look for simple pleasures of my own! Most likely, they'd hiding in plain sight.
Yep, methinks you have described the days of most of us seniors. DR. APPTS have NOT been our days in the past, but lately we fit right in. Going to or awaiting a call from a DR. BUT, but it is good to be alive. The CD of the ocean and seagulls sure sounded good, wish I could hear to enjoy that stuff.
Love you lady and hope you enjoy the Blizzard....
We are enjoying the phone calls about our cars (non existent) WARRANTY and also window salesmen. LOL
Sherry & jack, wishing you the best...
Oh my, that unexpected find of the gift cards seems to be just what you needed right now. What a lucky find. We'v e had above norm temps here too and it's more like summer than fall right now still I've been enjoying my pumpkin spice coffee every morning. Always delicious
Well, I think a lot of people are not doing too much these days. That is incredible that you already have your packages wrapped and ready to ship off. I haven't even started yet. That's a reminder for me to get going.
That pumpkin pie blizzard looks really good. Dairy Queen maybe? When I didn't have cable for 6 months, I watched Netflix, and was so surprised that there was a big selection of movies on there. The Applebee's gift card will be nice one day when you plan to use it. I've been seeing the commercials on tv lately, and the food looks delicious. Cleaning out a closet is also a chore that we put off, so that's good that you did that. We always come across things we forget about. I am wondering where I can get the Harney pumpkin tea, it sounds good. : )

The days seem to be mundane for just about everybody. This is my favorite time of year, but ironically I have so many problems that there's hardly any time to enjoy it. Hard to believe that it's nearly mid-October already.
The endless rain has stopped (temporarily) here in TN and temperatures are fairly mild. I LOVE pumpkin pie blizzards. Netflix is a good way to pass the time. I've been watching lots of movies and documentaries lately. Take care!
I do the same things most days. And, doctor's appointments are ever present here, too. At least we are safe to do the little things we find to make us happy. That was great finding gift cards. Those little finds add a zing to the day.
Actually it does not sound boring at all. Well. It sounds a lot like our life right now. Glad you discovered a lot to watch on Netflix. We just finished binge-watching Heartland. It was really good. I hope you received my latest novel that I sent you :-) Good thinking to get all those gifts out early. Remember last year?! It was a little crazy. Have a good rest of your weekend.
