CREDIT WAS TAKEN

Our Christmas was more than a little interesting, here.  Apparently someone, with nothing better to do, had some fun at our expense. They hacked our credit/debit card information and used it to buy plane tickets, for almost a THOUSAND dollars on Christmas Eve, somewhere in Georgia. That is far away from where we live and play. The security at the bank called to tell us about the suspicious activity. They wanted to know if we authorized the transaction. We said, "NOPE." Now our card and online banking information is blocked, so they can’t use it again. In the meantime neither can we. Because of the holiday falling on Sunday, the bank will be closed on Monday. So we can't access our account information until Tuesday. The bank is going to issue us a new card after then. It should be here within the next week. The headaches this causes are enormous. We have zillions of accounts that get paid with that card. All of them must be switched over to the new card number when it arrives. Plus any Christmas presents that need to go back will be in limbo if purchased on the hacked card before it happened. One BIG mess. UNBELIEVABLE. Oh well. Que Sera Sera.  My husband is unemployed. He needs a pacemaker. I need two new knees.  We didn't need someone stealing our money, at Christmas. It put a real damper on the festivities. I hope they catch the bad guys who did this.

You have my complete sympathy! The exact same thing happened to me a little over a year ago. Somebody hacked my Paypal account and started using my credit card. It was a complete nightmare and took months to get straightened out. It's a good thing that you were immediately alerted about this!

That is very scary. Glad it was caught so soon, but to think that someone could do that is terrible. It would be a gigantic headache. No you did not need any thing else to disturb your life right now, but people that do those things are heartless and only think of themselves. Sometimes I think we'd be better off without any cards but I do hate to think of carrying cash. Take good care and I hope things go well for you in the transition.

Oh, no! Our daughter has had her cards and accts. hacked but so far we've been spared. Please, God, keep us safe. My nerves can't take much more. I'm so sorry this happened to you especially at this time of year. I felt like just beating the crap out of somebody yesterday. Too bad I couldn't have been aimed at the theif. I would have pummeled him/her. Merry Christmas, Dirtbags! I hope they rot in hell.

We have ComCast a our internet provider and it comes with Norton anti-virus and Constant Guard for password management. I would recommend something similar for your computer.

Glad it was recognized early.

Sorry you had that happen. My parents had something similar happen a while back. Glad they caught it so soon. Loved the Victorian house, wish I had that desk. Take care, Sheila

I know partly how you feel as this has happened to me twice in ten years, but not at christmas time, goodwill and all that.
Back here in little England, i was told on both occasions that my card number was stolen from the petrol station, on the second time, they used the number to get as much money from cash points, as quickly as they could travel around from cash points in Cananda!!!
A million miles from home, or so it seemed at the time!!
It hurts, the disbelief of someones actions, then slowly you work your way through it and let it go. Best wishes jackie x

This is just horrible! And come to think of it... my husband informed me on Saturday evening that our business account has a withdraw scheduled for tomorrow in our business savings acct.. We do not use our Savings acct.. so we have to wait till tomorrow to find out what's going on because, of course.. the banks are closed today.
I am so sorry about what has happened for you. Some people are so evil.. :-(

How awful!!! I had my Am Express card hacked and they used it for gaming. I discovered it quite by accident He was from India, or she. American xpress did the most in tracking it down for us. I am just so sorry. I need new knees and hips so I know the pain you are in. They issued a new credit card and that created a few problems because 2 places had it on record so they refused to let us use the card.

I'm sorry this happened to you. Sometimes I wish the people who do this could see the pain they cause. I'm also sorry to hear about your husband and your physical problems. I can't do anything for you but pray, which I did.

Tarrytarre, are you one of those people that has trouble sleeping through the night? I noticed the time on the comment you left. I think it said 3:00 something AM. I am the same way. I can come in here where the computer is and it doesn't bother anyone else. Hope your knees are not so painful as to keep you awake.

And thank YOU for the encouraging comments you leave my way. You are much appreciated!

Oh no! I hope they catch the scumbag who did that. It's a little weird that someone bought airline tickets with it because you would think those would be pretty traceable. Don't you have to give a photo ID when you board now? I haven't flown in years, but I would think they could tie the tickets purchased to the ID they used to get on the plane. Or not. Either way, just a bad time to have to go through all this mess.

OMG I am so sorry to hear this. I used my MAC card one time for a bill and then some charges were made in Florida for gassing up several trucks. I got a new number and I don't set up bill pays with it. I write checks OR have it billed to a credit card that only has a thousand dollar limit. IF any charge more than $500 is made I get an immediate text. This helps a lot. I hope the jerks that did this left a trail and I would think airline tickets would be easy to trace. I will pray for some quick resolution for this. You are such a good person and your husband does not need any more stress. Sending cyber hugs.
