PRICE IS RIGHT. MAKING WORK FOR MYSELF

Some days you get LUCKY and find a bargain.
On this particular day I found two.
One BIG and one SMALL.
First this.
Aren't these beautiful AUTUMN placemats?
They go perfectly with my rust colored tablecloth.
Can you believe the price? $1.50 a piece.
I purchased six of them from Big Lots.

Moseying down the road...
this also caught my eye.
I had been looking for a sideboard for months.
But truth be told, couldn't afford the high price tag.

So when I stopped by
The Goodwill Store and ran across this one...
I couldn't believe my good fortune.
It was solid oak and marked $59.99.
I bought it on the spot.
Yet, had no way to transport it home,
since all I had was my car.
I called my husband.
He drives the van.
He left work a little early,
driving two hours from Indiana
so we could bring it home.

There are no pictures of my hubby and I
lugging it out of the van,
inside the house, at 10:30 that night.
But I will tell you it was
slightly reminiscent of a good
Laurel and Hardy Movie.
Of course, while we were resting
from all this strenuous activity...
our cats thoroughly
inspected the new piece of furniture...
Ultimately giving it, their final stamp of approval.
After moving a few pieces of artwork on the wall...
Then decorating the top of the sideboard
with a couple of my favorite things.
I am ready to add some of
my reading material inside.
I own MORE books than a library.
I have my WORK cut out for me.

The side board is a find! What a lovely piece of wood. I'm enthusiastic about the place mats, too. I've got my eye on some autumn decor pieces, but trying to hold on to summer.

You got some great finds. I love going into Big Lots...you never know what you might find there. Place mats are expensive so you really got a good deal. The sideboard is wonderful. You certainly were in the right spot at the right time. I did have some more people look at my camper this weekend and a couple showed some interest. Now we'll see if I get an offer. Hard to believe the weekend is just about over. It was a fast one.

The sideboard is fantastic and it looks like the cat is thoroughly enjoying it.
As for Big Lots - I used to go there all the time when I lived in Odessa. Unfortunately there are no Big Lots where I live now. Come to think of it, there's no NOTHING where I live now.

Ah ha, yeah the place mats are nice. Also makes me glad we no longer have a table cloth (Jack's opinion, LOL), BUT the solid oak Side Board, that is a horse of a different color. Nice, hard to find, even new.
YOu done good. I thought at first you had bought a cat to boot! LOL

Love from New Hampshire... Tomorrow Maine!!

What lucky finds. The sideboard is beautiful...a perfect place for your books. Nice placemats too. People seem to be turning their thoughts to fall already. Summer is still going strong, even here in Alberta.

Very pretty good deals you got there. I haven't been to Big Lots in a long time, need to go. There is one in San Antonio on the side of town I go to most often.

This side piece is so pretty, Taryterre. It looks like it is in good condition. Lots of goodies to put on top of it for Fall too. Your placemats go nicely with your table cloth. I just love Big Lots. My sister first introduced me to it years ago, and I've been shopping there ever since. I think your cat has found a new home.

What a nice find. It is very nice, for the price. My husband would have said "are you crazy, I am not driving that far to haul anything." Of course my husband is a bohemein so he can be very stubborn. It sounds like you are feeling better and that is great.

I think you got the deal of the century on the sideboard. Glad the cats approve of it. And you really are decorating for fall already aren't you.

I think that sideboard was an excellent buy. I had the same placemats but they got ruined by gravy on Thanksgiving several years ago. I would try spraying them with Scotchguard before using. They were so pretty though. Rob joined a website online paperbackswap.com and we are trading paperbacks and loving it. Got rid of stuff we didn't want and are getting stuff for free.
