EXOTIC AS WE GET

My hubby and I are on a sushi kick. At least once or twice a week we find ourselves gravitating to this delightful kind of dish. It's low in fat and healthy. I prefer the veggie version to the fish version that my hubby likes. So my favorites are the California Wrap with rice paper or Dumplings pictured above. My spouse adores the Chef's Special with seaweed, rice, Tuna or Salmon with Wasabi and pickled ginger pictured below.

 Kelp

or Calamari too.

WE get this take-out from the grocery store for about $3.99- $8.99. More if we want to splurge. The ladies come in and make it fresh all day. And no we don't use chopsticks. But wish we could figure out how??? Have you ever tried sushi?

No never tried sushi but we are trying some different foods since we have a chef at the hospital cafeteria down the street now. We eat there because we get a Senior Circle discount and its so handy going and coming from the ranch and most time the food is good.

Our hospital cafeteria has a portabella pita sandwich that is to die for. So delicious. ENJOY the variety of foods at yours.

I like California rolls, with the seaweed and rice...I've never seen any with rice paper. I like the ginger and wasabi too. My oldest daughter likes the same as me but just with soy sauce, no wasabi or ginger. I eat soy sauce with mine too. Youngest daughter likes the salmon rolls. Hubby not into sushi or raw oysters...I'm the only one here who likes raw oysters. Have a great Sunday, Sheila
What grocery store is it?

I haven't as of yet; funny I pre-wrote a post about sushi for the upcoming A/Z challenge. I do want to try it sometime. Glad you and hubby are enjoying it!

I've used chopsticks before - although they admittedly test the limit of my frazzled nerves.
I've never tried sushi.
If it ain't cooked, I ain't gonna eat it.

My family loves it. I never want to make a meal of it but like you, I like the veggie ones or the ones with cooked fish, like shrimp. Love putting the green stuff on there (forgive me as my vocab is not good this morning in the 3:00 a.m. hour) and dipping in soy sauce. Publix has the best Sushi according to my family as far as stores go.

I did have sushi one time going out to eat with DS#1 and his family. It's not my favorite and once was enough for me. I've never mastered chopsticks either. I do love seafood though. Old fashioned fish and chips is one of my favorites.

wow...i can't believe how many readers don't eat sushi! we eat it all the time. mostly sashimi. we always have to bring extra home for teddy. this pup loves her raw fish! i taught my kids to use chopsticks as they learned how to use utensils so we always use chopsticks. i used to make my own sushi and sashimi when the kids lived at home but now we go to local japanese restaurants when we want it which is usually at least once a week.

Of course you were missed. You are one of the most faithful commenters ever. Cliff and I are getting rid of excess pounds also. Easy to lose, but not so easy to keep it off. I am reading a bood that was 99 cents on the Kindle, "Skinny Thinking" that I hope will keep me on track. It isn't a diet book, it doesn't tell you what to eat or what not to eat. It helps you understand why you are eating, etc.

I didn't know there was sushi without some kind of fish - I'll have to watch for that. I've heard it was a healthy meal but I don't really care for seafood. You've got me intrigued ~

I'm not fond of sushi but those photos look delish!

I don't mind the cooked sushi...I don't like the raw.

Oh I love to go to the Chinese restaurant, well actually it's a buffet, but I rarely eat sushi. There's so many yummy things to choose from. I see many using chopsticks, but I could never get the hang of it!
