OPPOSITES ATTRACT

My hubby and I have different tastes in things. Case in point... a visit to a Michigan Coney Island restaurant. I liked the flashy decor. But truth be told... I wasn't in the mood for anything that had coney sauce on it. My husband thought that this was sacrilege. Why bother to go there, he wondered?  I insisted life wasn't all about coney sauce. They had lots of interesting choices on the menu.
Hani's for instant. In case you've never heard of it.... "A Hani is a Michigan created wrap sandwich that starts with a loaf of pita bread. Mayonnaise is spread on the loaf followed by slices of American and Swiss cheese, tomato, shredded lettuce and breaded, fried chicken tenderloins."  Sounds interesting, doesn't it?

I would have chosen one of them but I found something even more mouthwatering... A Turkey Reuben. It was just what my taste buds were looking for.

My hubby chuckled when I ordered it. He maintained you do not come to a Coney Island restaurant unless that's what you're going to get. So he opted for the Coney Chili, instead.

We both added a salad.

 BUT...
we saved room for dessert later on.
Again at odds with each other...
I indulged by picking the
homemade baklava and my hubby
simply chose the vanilla ice cream.

(I had a bite before I took the picture.)

Do you have different
food preferences
from your family members?

what a cute place! i never heard of a hani before. the only difference in food tastes around here is that my husband won't touch mayonnaise and i can't live without it!

All the food looks wonderfully tempting - - but I'd rather have the turkey reuben than the Coney chili.
Now you've made me hungry!!!

I do love coney dogs with the works. But yes, if my family would have gone there the choices would have been varied and widespread. Funny how opposites do attract. Looks like you both had a great meal at any rate.

I should be ashamed to admit, I've never heard of coney .
... instead, my taste buds are going amok.
Extra mayo on that Hani for me, please! :)

Love the images of you two enjoying your dessert!

Oh, I'm so glad you tried the Baklava, Taryterre. These dishes both look so good - the turkey sandwich AND the Coney chili. I've never heard of a Hani before. Isn't it funny how every state has its own special dish? Yes, opposites do attract......me and husband are different in so many ways, but alike in many ways too.

Have a fun weekend, Taryterre.

That food looks so good. Joe and I have somewhat similar tastes. At home anything I cook he likes. We seldom go out any more. The cost is so much for what you get.

That hani sounds interesting; I never heard of it, but I think I would have to try one if I saw it on a menu. Never had anything with coney either, but that sounded good too! Dessert looked good too!

We have pretty much similar tastes here; hubby likes things more spicier than me, but pretty much we like the same things. When we go out though, we make sure to get two different items so we can sample a little of the other's food :)

Never heard of some of this food but would try it. I hope that is onion with the chili.

I'm like Paula haven't heard of the food, but it did look so good. My husband will eat most anything I do. He always tells me to order him what I get. Great post. Jean

Yep. My husband loves eggs and Italian sausage. Not together, just as a rule. I detest eggs and don't care for sausage

I like the coney dogs. The Hani sounded good. The pictures do LOOK delicious. I would have chosen the Vanilla Ice Cream to the Baklava.
mainly our differences are I prefer Vanilla, Walnut, pecan type food, She over rides all that for Chocolate. makes no sense to me. I eat chocolate, but prefer fruit/nut flavors...

I will eat most of the things hubby likes but there are a lot of things I would eat that he won't...ha. Like raw oysters, he also doesn't eat mayo. But it looks good and I like baklava so I would have probably got that too. Take care, Sheila

Haven't heard of a Hani, but I love Coney dogs! My hubby will eat anything, so I can't think of anything I could eat that he wouldn't. But, that said, he always orders french fries with his meal and I'd rather have other types of potatoes or a vegetable.

I've never heard of a Coney restaurant...something to look for next time we're south of the border. Lloyd and I have quite similar tastes, or we've adapted to our differences so they're not differences any more. He just likes his spicier. Oh, there's one thing. He doesn't like tomato based soups/sauces. They remind him too much of the time he was a kid and his dog got sprayed by a skunk and he had to clean him with tomato juice. Yuck.

Taryterre,
I just wanted to get back to you on your question.....we played the song "when you're smiling" by Louis Armstrong on our side bar when we first started our blog. Since then, we decided not to go with music, but I miss some of the oldies that were on there sometimes.

I hope you share a nice Father's Day with husband this weekend.
