MARCH MADNESS, BASKETBALL & ME

At our house we didn't fill in brackets or turn on the tv for the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship.  If anything we were disappointed that the network pre-empted our soap opera because of it. I do not have anything against basketball. I fondly remember my youth, when basketball was a part of my life. My dad rigged up a basketball net inside the garage... and my little brother and I... passed the hours away... shooting hoops. Those were good times and I enjoyed them. But... as I got older the sport was lost to me, and I never gave it much thought, anymore. At least not until this year. Nowadays, March Madness is everywhere, and you can't help but pay attention to all the hype. Especially when Warren Buffet offers a billion dollars to someone with a perfect bracket. So, I wasn't really surprised... when I was out shopping, and came across an indoor basketball game... set up in a store, complete with a small hoop and a couple balls. On a whim, with nobody watching but the security cameras... I decided to try my luck.  What fun it was trying to get a basket. I felt like a kid again. And even though I wasn't betting on the big games, I got to participate in March Madness in my own way. Did you?

Who knows - - with those security cameras watching you, your private attempt at shooting baskets might wind up on YouTube someday.

our grocery store had one of these set up too!

Laughing @ what Jon said. He may be right. No, I didn't participate. I say good for you. If you feel like playing even in front of the security camera, do it. I've been guilty of doing a few steps down the isle in the grocery store in the next town over because I like the music they play over the loud speaker.

Now I see one person shooting baskets and another scooting down a grocery Isle. Me I just skip every once in awhile. Now y'all got me skeered to touch Sherry's hinny when no one is looking. nLOL

BUT GLEAD YOU CAN STILL SHOOT A HOOP!

I used to follow basketball more than I do now, had favorite teams, kept track of the teams in March Madness so to speak. Not so much these days, though I do enjoy watching games when I can. We are a bit excited here about March Madness this year as San Diego State is still in the running, so lots of local excitement :)

Good for you! Well, the tourney's still going on, and I will rooting for UK's Wildcats tomorrow. My native Kentucky has two teams in the Sweet Sixteen this year, and they are playing each other. I don't follow college basketball closely until tournament time. It was something I shared with my father when he was alive, and I do it for him as much as for me now.

The men in my family follow the games closely. I don't watch college bb, but I used to watch pro basketball back when Larry Bird was playing. And Michael Jordan. They were my 2 favorite players. Haven't watched any since MJ retired.

My husband loves sports. We have a deal. I let him watch them. He doesn't ask me to watch them with him!

I don't care much for basketball...football is more to my liking...and hockey, and cycling is a new one since the hubs started watching it... Yay you for going for the goal in Wally World! Whoot!

I am all about March Madness. My bracket is handy in my pocketbook should anyone ask how it's holding up and yes, I have been known to walk up to random people if I see a bracket in their hand just to see how mine measures up. I just think it's fun... plus it keeps me entertained for a brief period while I wait on football. =)

I thought we were saturated in basketball. Sports is so big here in Ne. How cool that you got that game. Kind of nice to be able to try something new.

You are so funny, Taryterre. I can just see you trying to shoot hoops in the store while no one was around haha. This post actually hit home for me because my husband played basketball his whole life. He was always one of the starting players and he loved the game so.

I'm glad you got a little enthusiastic with the sport. And isn't it nice to just be a kid once again?

love,

Well now ... aren't you the sneaky one :) I'm like you... not really into it anymore; but Dear Hubby stayed up late watching Wisconsin. I didn't like that I couldn't watch The Young and The Restless. I've been watching them since 1974! Talk about madness!!

G'evening! 'Seems our comments show up together in some of the nicest places :), so I wanted to drop by and introduce myself!

Basketball was never an 'on-purpose' part of my life 'til this year's bracket talk got the best of me and I succumbed. Suffice to say, Mr. Buffet's $'s aren't at risk - but at least I was the only one in our office to pick Mercer over Duke. (Only on account of it being in Georgia - lol).

So, I had to chuckle aloud -- and mentally applaud your own March madness in the store. You go, girl!

Have a great week!
