POWER OUTAGE

I am holed up in a motel a couple miles from my house. Our power went out at 2pm yesterday, during a ferocious storm and isn't due to be fixed until sometime Friday. Normally I would have lit a million candles and stayed put at home. But with cats roaming the house that can get tricky if not downright dangerous.  So I decided not to rough it or risk it. And I am monitoring the situation there, but still enjoying those creature comforts we are all so used to here at the motel. The camping lanterns at home were quaint but you can't beat the light, tv or computer access here. Because only three families are affected on our street, we do not have the power company's undivided attention. So they are  doing what they have to do, elsewhere first.  This is frustrating to be sure. Not to mention the fact, we're going to lose everything in our refrigerator and freezer. And it will be costly to replace. So I will post again when I can. Say a prayer we get restoration soon. Thanks.

You are in my prayers. I hate power outages and like you even though I don't have a deep freeze I have a freezer on top of the fridge. Hope it comes back on soon.

We have been through this several times so I know your pain. We live in Florida and deal with the power outages from hurricanes.

You will be in my prayers. We had some storms roll through our area yesterday but we are ok here. Many are with out power due to a lot of down trees elsewhere. I hope you get your power back very soon. Take good care!

Oh gosh, I sure hope you can get back home soon! The lack of a/c would have sent me running because it's been so very hot here. Hope you don't lose too much food, either. I'll say a prayer for you!

I can really sympathize with you becuase I've been through the same thing several times. Let's hope your power will be restored very soon.

Sending prayers your way.

I experienced having to empty my fridge and throwing away so much food $$$$$. Homeowners insurance may cover this but it didn't cover mine due to the high deductible.

Glad you are safe in the motel with electricity, TV, Internet, A/C.

Hope the electric will be restored ASAP.

Oh yeah, it is funny what it takes to get undivided attention, and you are right 3 families won't do it.

Glad you do have a place to hide from the 'storm' of the business that is run by the 'loudest squeak'.
((HUGS)) while you hunker down.

I hate it when we have a power outage. I hope you don't loose all your food in your freezer. It happen to us when hurricane Opral came through here some years ago.

A squirrel or a woodpecker used to get on the top of our pole and knock out the power. Only four families were involved but all they had to do push the thingy back up. Boy it is sooo hot here these days we couldn't stand it without power either. With the oil boom the motels are full so don't know what we would do. Stay cool and hope by some miracle you don't lose your food.

I feel your pain. When Hurricane Sandy hit we lost our power for 6 days, had it for a day and a half and lost it for 3 more. We lost everything in our fridge and freezer (which had just been stocked). Now I keep a huge bag of ice in the freezer so if we lost power for just a day it will be ok. We also bought a generator. There were no motel rooms here within hours available so at least you have that. Hope it's over quickly!!!

So glad you had an option of another place to stay but big bummer on the refrigerated items. Too bad you didn't have LOTS of friends with some extra freezer space. It would cost us, too, to replace what is in ours.
