The hubby went out of town
for two days for an interview about a contract job back in Chicago , our old stomping grounds. So while
the cat's away the mouse will play. Since he was staying at the Hyatt on the
company tab eating a $25 breakfast for one measly omelet. I decided I would eat out too, instead of
making meals for a party of one. Eating alone out in public doesn't bother me. I
of course didn't have the same budget he did. So, since my husband doesn't like
to go to the local Mexican restaurant and I do... I chose it to visit for
dinner the other night. For $7.99 I got the Baja Burrito, beans and Spanish
rice, an iced tea and dessert. The fried ice cream with honey was $1.99 extra. But boy oh boy, was it worth it. So folks... being alone has it's advantages, doesn't it? You
don't have to share. Here are some pictures. The place was alive with colors.

It's wonderful to have someone else cook and do the dishes - - and have it be so economical! Like you, I don't mind sharing a table with just myself. Glad you had a wonderful evening and shared it with us.
I'm impressed. That's one thing I cannot do. I feel so --- out of the ordinary. I will go to the restaurant and get take out, but the thought of sitting at a table alone gives me the heebie jeebies just thinking about it. I wonder whay that is.
I was widowed at age 50 so I learned to do a lot of things alone. I wish I could think of the name of the area near Chicago where my daughter lived for three years. My first and only train ride was to Joliette where she picked me up so she didn't have to drive to Chicago. I didn't go in winter by the way.
I love fried ice cream with honey too. It is a cute place on the inside. Take care, Sheila
Some times I love to just go out alone and bring a book to read - have a glass of wine.... sandie
the ice cream looks really tempting.
Your meal looks yummy! (especially the ice cream) =)
Oh, Mexican food, a favorite of mine! I think I eat it at least once a week. You had such a great time alone, and I'm proud of you cause I don't like going to restaurants alone, but I do love my alone time. I think it's good for us once in awhile. This restaurant looks like it is fun with good food....yummy burrito.
You're gonna want husband to travel more often now hehehehe.
Love,
~Sheri
Okay, I am late but now I want Mex. But I will pass on the dessert and switch to a Blizzard. LOL
Pretty place, lots of color to give the South of the border affect.
((HUGS))
my home alone dinner is almost always popcorn! i used my hose and posted about it today!
Your meal sounds wonderful. I do like Mexican as long as it's not too hot. Glad you didn't sit home alone.
Love mexican and especially the fried ice cream. Glad you got to enjoy. Have a nice weekend.
Too funny my hubby has been gone all week and I did the same. He hates Chinese so that was last nights meal. He hates going to Pannara so I went there twice! I don't mind eating alone either! Have a great weekend!
Your dinner looks amazing!
Cooking for one, I learned is extremely boring and difficult at times since I became a Widow!
Can't believe it will be 12 years this July. I still have not learned to cook for one. I always make too much. Certain recipes are not made for one person! I'll use that as an excuse for gaining weight! LOL
Looks good, we love going out for mexican every now and then.
Your meal looks great. I'm a fan of fried ice cream, too. I've learned to eat out by myself and except for fancy evening meals, I really enjoy it.
Sounds great! I have never minded eating out alone, either. It's rather peaceful and relaxing actually.
